Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Dropping my son off at school today, I noticed this rather lovely plaque had been put up. It really tickled me! Spot on. Since it's unlikely to be allowed to remain up for long, thought I'd pop up this pic.

It's a pity that that the plaque unfairly denies his rightful share of public shame to "Lord" Andrew Adonis.

I trust George Meehan has already commissioned a similarly fitting obituary plaque for Heartlands High Community School to mark its betrayal to the 'Academicians'.

To be fair to Cllr George Meehan, he publicly opposed this move and - as reported in the online Hornsey Journal - resigned as a Governor of Heartlands School.

If only we had a Council Leader with a fraction of George's grasp of the underlying political issues.

Alan, to clarify: my comment above was in praise of George following his resignation - no hint of irony. He's certainly not one of the traitors. He's been a good lead cllr on Education and Leader - indeed his Third Coming would be a great replacement for the present incumbent.

Thanks, Eddie.

Personally, I think the correct terminology would be "the present encumbrance" - in the sense of a burden or impediment.

Alan do you know why the Heartlands deal with Alexandra Park sports club fell through? I thought that was the full intention of the council when the built that school, to have the regeneration money spent locally and the children to not have to be bussed to North Middlesex Cricket Club for sports.

I suspect some kind of backhander.

John, I've not the faintest clue about any of this. Have you asked anyone connected with the school who may be in a position to know? if so, what did they say?

I asked my cricket club. I wanted the other side of the story.

Absolutely brilliant! Well done whoever did this.

Did something similar last year

Good on whoever designed this and put it up.

I was looking at Ofsted reports in Haringey recently and was shocked to discover that you can no longer access their reports for the 3 (or is it more?)  primary schools which have been forced into becoming acadamies - these schools no longer exist apparently, and neither does their history.

I then looked at the LBH website and saw the schools are now called Harris Primary Academy (x 2) and Trinity Primary Academy.
