Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Men over 40 in Haringey are being encouraged to take advantage of free, on the spot health check-ups being offered in The Mall in Wood Green next week.

The healthy ‘pit-stops’ have been organised by charity the Men’s Health Forum and supported by Haringey Council and the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation to help promote a new, free online health service designed by and for men in Haringey.

Man MOT is an online health advice service delivered by the national charity the Men's Health Forum which allows men to chat directly and confidentially with a GP by text about any health problem via a computer, tablet or smart phone.

The service, which is currently only available in Haringey, enables users to seek expert, confidential advice from trained health professionals on any health matters at a time of their convenience with no appointment necessary.

Jim Pollard, who manages Man MOT for the Men's Health Forum charity said: “Man MOT does what men in Haringey told us they want - it's a free, confidential online health advice service. We hope that once men in other areas see what's available in Haringey they will want Man MOT too but for now Haringey is the only place in the country to have a service like this.”

Good idea. It requires time and assertiveness to get a full response to GP services and Googling stuff only works when you already have good information. Issues like prostate problems are usually easily resolved (in general it's NOT prostate cancer just an enlarged prostate!) my informal discussions tell me that it really is true that men seem reluctant to come forward with health concerns in good time...
