Hi all
Quick idiot question, apologies.
Am I right in thinking that the council tax bill runs up until February, i.e. you don't pay in Feb then await the coming year's bill before you resume payments? We didn't pay last month, and haven't heard anything this month so I'm assuming we would have had a letter if this was not the right thing to do. I was under the impression that the 2013/14 bill was probably being prepared now?
(My partner and I pay by cheque instead of DD, largely to avoid one of us shouldering the direct debit and the other forgetting to pay that person back - but it does mean we can sometimes under or over-pay)
thanks!

My bill popped through the letter box today so probably on its way. And pretty sure it is usually spread over 10 months.
Yes, it is generally spread over 10 months. First payment of the year is due 1st of April and the last one is 1st of January usually.
I suggest you sign up for an online account too, it gets updated so you can keep track of what you owe and save yourselves overpaying. The link to allow you to register is below.
That's good. I have to admit I do already have an online account, but I'm a bit hopeless with forms (I actually don't think it's all that clear from their site what is paid vs owed but it's probably mostly me) and my guilty conscience was causing me to panic over it a bit!
Anyway, yes I'm sure they're pretty on the ball when it comes to informing people of any non payment
