I don't criticise the council over this spending.
The AP road surface was in at least as bad a condition as any other road in Haringey. The council has starved AP of funds for about two decades, so a relatively small contribution to our Charity's responsibilities is to be welcomed.
The re-surfacing isn't just for the torch relay: its for the Holland Heineken House period ... and beyond. This is spending that benefits everyone, including users of the W3 bus that goes through AP park. It's stretch of road that is not "short" - it traverses the 195 acre AP park, from Crouch End to Wood Green.
The cost was met by £250,00 from the council and £35,000 from our Charity's funds. It was a nice surprise to find this much down the back of the sofa.
Much richer seams exist for Private Eye to exploit than this road improvement.
