Haringey appoints new Place & Sustainability Director

Following the the appointment of Haringey's Director of Urban Environment, Niall Bolger as new Chief Executive of Sutton, Haringey Council has recruited Lyn Garner as director of Place and Sustainability from July 2011.

With a broader portfolio than her predecessor, Lyn's responsibilities will include:

• culture services – including libraries, museums, culture, adult learning and the development of community hubs
• recreation services – including parks and sports and leisure centres
• single frontline – including neighbourhoods, enforcement, antisocial behaviour and traffic management
• planning, regeneration and economy
• property services.

Lyn comes to Haringey from the Greater London Authority, where she was interim director of Development and Environment, overseeing key strategies in environment, transport, land use, planning and housing.

Before joining the GLA last September, Lyn spent nine years at the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham, where she worked first as assistant director of Housing and Community Service and then as assistant director of Regeneration and Housing Strategy.
