Strolling back home after a trip to the playground and the cafe at the wetlands this afternoon, saw that the Happy Man pub is surrounded by hoardings, and the windows boarded over. A quick check of their Facebook page and they had posted “last night :(“, but no further details as to why. Does anybody have any light to shed on the subject?
It wasn’t a pub I frequented, but a shame to see it go regardless, particularly if it’s being devoured by the new estate; it definitely didn’t have ‘the look’ I imagine the developers are after.

Sorry to say but I don’t share the sentiment. Looks hideous and according to their reviews the owners would occasionally ask customers to buy more drinks or leave, so looks like a very good riddance.
It's being demolished to make way for the third phase of the new estate
I lived on the Woodberry Down Estate between 1968 until 1980 and my parents lived there until their deaths in the mid 2000s. The flats I lived in are gone. The shops and now the pub. I imagine the developers have had their eye on it for some time.
why would this be a shame?
