I need a bike shed installed in my front garden, and I think it might need a concrete base, or at least the ground flattened. Can anyone recommend someone?

Get it dug out if you're getting one of those trimetal bike sheds. Put a concrete base in with a Sheffield Stand (you don't need to spend £235 on it like the ones on Green Lanes). Dig down deep enough so that the profile of the shed is as low as the profile of the old rubbish bin sheds many houses on the ladder have out front.
Forgive the effusiveness but this bike shed was very well thought out, perhaps except for the placement of the Sheffield Stand. :)
I've got a ground anchor in mine rather than a sheffield stand (the anchor is set in to the concrete base). I've got an Asgard shed with a flat roof and a door at one end, the advantage of that being I could put a green (sedum) roof on it so it blends into the front garden quite nicely. And I agree with John, they are an essential purchase! I ride my bike more for short trips now I don't have to lug it through the house.
Haringey council are supposed to be installing these around the borough:

Kind of makes more sense than everyone having a shed in their front garden (though you do have to pay to rent a space).
This looks great. A £30-£42 annual rental fee is very affordable, especially for those without front gardens to install their own bike sheds in. I hope it goes ahead across Haringey!
You can also suggest a location for a shed here: http://www.cyclehoop.com/rentals/
I think also having it take a similar footprint and be the same effective height as the rubbish bin sheds it replaced helps.
Have you bought the shed? if not, you might consider a sheffield stand with a heavy duty cover (such as the Motorbike cover from Oxford Products). People might have a look under the cover, but unless your bikes are really flash are unlikely to attempt to steal them, if they are well locked up.
