Grounds Maintenance Team Leader required

Guaranteed twelve months work a year, Perm. £19k - £22.5 p.a (D.O.A.) 28 holiday days a year (inc. bank holidays) and the use of a van (and fuel) to travel to and from work.

Morton Gamble Gardens Ltd. is looking for an extremely competent and experienced garden maintenance operative ready to take on more responsibility OR an already established team leader.

The successful candidate, experienced in grounds maintenance, will help to grow our small, successful company, which has a fantastic reputation with clients, through hard work in the gardens and by being a team player. 

The role would especially appeal to a person currently working in a larger grounds maintenance company (or with recent experience off such work) who feels frustrated by the constraints of working in a large, hierarchical environment, someone with vast experience of grounds maintenance work or someone new to the area (with past experience). 

About the role: 

It’s a permanent position, working throughout the year. The majority of the work will be grounds maintenance; hedge cutting through to planting (ranging from prestigious homes through to student halls and hostels) across Greater London & surrounding areas. 

The ability to motivate and lead a team, as well as dedication and dependability is required. 

Essential knowledge includes plants and pruning, and the use of petrol machinery such as mowers, hedge cutters and health and safety awareness. Wider knowledge of the sector would also be beneficial. Spraying certification would also be advantageous. 

You will need to ensure that grounds maintenance tasks are carried out effectively and efficiently by overseeing staff and working as part of a team in a hands on role in the gardens. Filling out time sheets and managing schedules will be a part of daily life. 

The candidate must be absolutely fluent in English, 25+ years old (for insurance purposes), with a driving license and excellent levels of communication. They must also live within an hour of London N8.
