Haringey Council's work to control rubbish on Green Lanes some years ago now has just been showcased in a new report by London Councils entitled Enviro-Crime Busters.

The amendments in red reminded me of the Romans Go Home! sketch.
:o)
Just get fed up with this council policy of expunging all mention of Harringay as a place. God knows where the idea that it doesn't exist as a place came from.
"Policy" is a curious thing. Most of what the Council does is constrained and/or mandated by legislation. Or by external inspection bodies which say: "Bow" and councillors are supposed to say: "How low?"
Of course, "Policy" can also mean some computer file or sheets of paper whch are "rolled-out" or "launched" - and then sit in a drawer.
And while any "Cabinet" member has a formal legal role - and that's important - it's questionable whether they make the Council's policy. Some of them do have a few foibles - like disliking balconies. Which can be a problem. But mostly the senior officers are able to work round this.
Sometimes it's like the old joke:Q: Why did the auditor cross the road?
A: Because in the file its says they crossed the road last year.
Let's follow this individual foible to its logical conclusion. Let's humbly petition the Green Lanes Strategy Group to launch/roll out a consultation to canv(er)ass our opinions on a brand new name-change:
A. Harrankara
B. Harrizmir
C. HarrinGaziantep
