Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!
Great Northern Railway Tavern
Was mooching down Hornsey High Street at the weekend and popped into the newly refurbished, dramatically made-over Great Northern Railway Tavern . It's only been open for a week or so and they seem to be still finding their feet, but the staff are very friendly and it looks fantastic (particularly the function room at the back). They appear to have quite an extensive menu, but I didn't partake so the review will have to wait! Definitely worth a look in if you're passing, and thirsty.

Hi, if you are willing to travel to Stroud Green they do live music at both the World's End and the Stapleton Tavern on Stroud Green Road/Crouch Hill

I used to drink in there every weekend circa 1995. We all called it the 'Top House' (which I still do), not sure why, but everyone in Crouch End (where I used to live before moving to the Ladder) knew it as such. Perhaps simply because it was at the top end of Hornsey High Street.
Everybody used to pile up from all the surrounding pubs at about 10:30 or so, because back then it was the only pub in the area that stayed open after 11 at the weekends. It closed at midnight but the extra hour seemed super important. It was quite a dive then, but we still loved it. Full of dodgy behaviour and the odd live band (including my brother playing some jazz). Life before children.
Still, I can't wait to try it now, especially if it's like the Queens and the Salisbury, which are both superb pubs. Hopefully more ales will be on the way, but IPA is a good start.

BtW, when I visited I asked who owned the pub and was told that it's a Punch Tavern. I'm not sure what that means they'll have in the way of ales but attached is an extract from their Code of Practice which lists the group's drinks suppliers.
