Government Art Collection

Visiting a client in a little yard off Tottenham Court Road earlier in the week, I stumbled across the current home of the Government Art Collection

The Collection, which has been developed over the past 112 years, contains works of art primarily by British artists ranging from the sixteenth century to the present day. They purchase and commission new works of art with the approval and expertise of an experienced committee.

Items from the Collection are selected and placed in major British Government buildings in the United Kingdom and around the world both to promote Britain and to reflect its history, culture and creativity in the visual arts.

I popped in to say hello and ask if visiting is possible. Apparently they currently offer tours for established groups (maximum 20 people) on alternate Wednesday evenings. Tours last up to one hour and must be pre-booked.
