The title is not at all self explanatory. A good excuse for pulling a sicky would be that you'd like a day off in bed. You mean a good lie to tell, right? Diarrhoea is never questioned, allegedly.
Food poisoning or a migraine.
1,283 excuses here.
A staff member once said to me "I didn't come to work because I just couldn't be bothered. Trust me I would have been useless all day".
Pulling a sicky is theft, just like shoplifting or not paying on a bus.
John D That's a pathetic excuse, and clearly will not work. You could get me the sack!
Chelsea centre forward Didier Drogba missed a game last month because he said he had Malaria.
Best ones I heard when working in HR were:

"I cant come to work because I found a hedgehog and need to take it to the RSPCA".

"can't come in today cos I slept with my mums boyfriend and she's gone nuclear"

Oh I miss those days...

Like them Karin

I'm not sure what you think, but personally, I believe  the runny bottom excuse to be old and unimaginable. If I was my boss and I called in saying I had the runs I would definitely question it.  But then again if I was my my boss and i was phoning myself to pull a sicky I would definitely question why someone made me boss in the first place innit.

Hmmmm....

What about these two? So far they are my favourites.

1. My iguana pooped on my head and I've got to have a bath.
2.Yesterday evening I was wrongly arrested for burgling the flat above me and have only just come back home from the police station. I am understandably shaken and very tired so can't make it today.

Keep em coming HOL.

thanks for the advice, Incidentally, which job would one be doing if having diarrhoea meant you can do your job properly?
Lots... teaching is one. Anything in healthcare would be another. Jobs where focus needs to be concentrated and workers can't suddenly take a break for the loo. Police and firefighters are other jobs...

Police, teachers and firefighters working with diarrhoea? Are you sure about this? I think it would considerably impede their ability to focus...

The only job that I've found you can't get out of if you're ill is parenting. Kids wouldn't care if you were bleeding out of your eyes, you still have to feed them and wipe their bottoms!
