Going the extra mile to recycle
I was forwarded this by a work colleague because the man in question used to work with us - I'd imagine this puts most of our recycling efforts to shame!!
"A man who travelled by bus to his local rubbish tip in north-west London to recycle an armchair has had a new gate to the site named after him. Ian McAleese chopped up the chair and travelled two miles by bus and on foot to the tip in Forward Drive, Harrow."

He wasn't recycling. He was disposing of large bits of landfill that the binmen wouldn't take. He may have been better off putting his unwanted chair outside with a 'take me' notice, or putting it on Freegle/Freecycle. Maybe the bits of timber could go into the new bays for scrap wood though, I should not be so picky.
