There you will find an interactive map showing a simulation of world and country population figures, as well as CO2 emissions. The population figures adjust all the time for birth and death rates for each country, adjusting the global population figure as well.
The difference between countries is of course quite marked, depending on level of social and economic development. Population data comes from the CIA World Factbook and the CO2 emissions from the United Nations Statistics Division (last data available 2004).

This post is very relevant to the concerns behind the formation of breathingearth.net . Namely, how to get real & effective change happening. The author clearly sees the conference culture getting in the way of progress!
