Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Thanks to Kevin Harris for picking up on the Civic Society's Street Pride campaign 'to help rid our streets of unnecessary clutter and create streets we can be proud of'.

The campaign will include a toolkit for civic societies to involve their members and others in identifying and urging action against unnecessary street clutter and a number of campaign workshops around the country. We will focus on poor pavements and unnecessary signs, posts, bollards and guardrails. The results will feed into a national database and support a high profile campaign for national action.

All we need now is a Civic Society for Harringay and we're away. I think Liz is half-tempted, but ultimately feels she's got too much on. Any other civic heroes out there?

This example, the most dense cluster of signage I've seen locally, is probably down to Islington Council ... (NB. the date on the photo is not wrong, it's just not ideal for this part of the world, yet).
That's nothing. I'm sure Haringey can outdo Islington. Watch this space :-)
This is border country and at first I thought LBH was trying to out-do Islington. But it has to be Islington as the wide sign is the middle is a map of the area. By itself, it's quite a neat map and as a map fan, I say we don't have enough. But why plant in this forest of other signs?

In the background is the beginning of Stapleton Hall Road which is in the Borough of Haringey as I know only too well. On the extreme right is the top of Stroud Green Road. This is a curious Road where the Eastern side is LBH and the Western side is Islington. I guess the border goes down the middle of the road.

John, I look forward to seeing what you can come up with in LBH, but remember, you'd be photographing in a public space! I was interrupted today, not by a social worker but by another member of the public who expressed interest in my eccentric nine-year old digital camera (result above) – £17 off eBay.
Told you so :-)

Spot the 7.5T limit sign.

9 signs in 50 yd - and you're watching the traffic lights anyway :-)
