The Gardens Community Garden (GRA) which is run and managed by the Gardens Residents Association (GRA) in Doncaster Gardens, off Stanhope Garden N4, has won a prestigious “Award of Merit” by the Sunday Telegraph in this years “Gardening Against All Odds Awards” 2011.
This national competition has placed the community garden one of the top 10 Gardens awards in the UK.

THE JUDGES of this years Awards were
The Duchess of Northumberlan, from The Sunday Telegraph, gardening columnists Bunny Guinness and Francine Raymond; Life editor Anne Cuthbertson.
From The Conservation Foundation: the botanist David Bellamy; the actress Susan Hampshire; and David Shreeve, director of The Conservation Foundation, also Christopher Woodward, director of the Garden Museum; Richard Reynolds, founder of Guerrilla Gardening.org; with Craig Sams, founder of Green & Black’s Organic; and Frank Wilson, husband of Elspeth Thompson.

The top 10 entries will share a choice of gardening equipment by Hozelock and the nominators of the top 10 gardens will receive a bottle of champagne.

A prestigious awards ceremony will take place in March 2012 at Syon House in West London.

Thanks to John for bringing round the newspaper article to the Halloween Event in the Community Garden. If you attended the amazing Halloween event you will understand why the Community Garden is one of the top community spaces in the UK because it has so many uses, not just a garden to solve a problem, it is part of a bigger solution.

This award of course would not be what it is without the hard work and dedication of the volunteers who keep the garden up to scratch for everyone to use.
Garden maintenance mornings take place every first Saturday of every month 11am to 1pm.
