Garden waste hessian sacks
What has everyone done with their old garden waste hessian sacks - are they recyclable or do they go into the general rubbish bin?
I tried searching around the Council website and I could not find anything.
If anyone has use for them, please let me know.

I've hung on to mine, and a neigbours. If you've signed up for a new council garden waste bin I can see you won't need them.
I recently did some well needed garden maintainance and ended up 14 full bags! three trips to the recycling centre. I wont be getting rid of my bags, really useful when you need them. You could offer them to a school, or someone on the HOL gardening group.

If I had a car then I would have used them for trips to the tip but I am forced to sign up for the sack service :(
So yes, anyone reading - if you want them they are yours.
I really don't want to throw them away for them to end up in landfill.

All I can say is that the hessian bags are far superior to the plastic option. It takes a lot longer to fill the plastic bags as they get broken by twigs etc and as for rose clippings forget it.
Why plastic? Bring back the hessian!!!

I received my sacks this week and thought they did not look robust enough to handle twigs or anything spiky - or usual garden waste really.
Maybe the plan is to frustrate us all so we cave in and pay the £75 for a bin we'll use four times a year.

I am probably out of your way (near Chestnuts) but if you are on the ladder I can drop by or meet you half way. I have to head to Holloway Road tomorrow, so need to head to a 29 Bus stop. I have two sacks.

If you don't have a use for them you can offer them up on your local #ilovefreegle.org members arrange mutually convenient times to pick up. Offer and/or request just about anything so long as it's free and legal. Hope that help

You're welcome - There's a free App to download so you can Freegle wherever you are. Upload photos - You can join as many local groups as you can reach. Freegle is on fb and twitter - You can post community events and even ask for volunteers you don't need to be part of an organisation to do that and there's a live chat room where you can meet with other members, ask questions or start a conversation.
