Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Did anyone else see this - forwarded to me:

ONE man was shot and two others stabbed after a mass brawl involving up to 50 people broke out at a Tube station.
Police were called in the early hours of Monday morning to a club outside Manor House station in north London.
When they arrived, they found three men, all in their 20s, suffering from serious injuries.
One had been shot while another two had been knifed.
The first stab victim is in a serious condition and the second is said to be serious but stable.
The gunshot wound on the third man is described as 'minor' and he is in a stable condition.
Witnesses said the area was plagued with violence and said the fight started outside the Manor Club on Seven Sisters Road at 3.30am.
One worker at a nearby 24-hour supermarket said: "There must have been more than 50 people fighting outside the club last night.
"There was about 10 in the main fight and the others were standing about shouting them on.
"This is a really, really dangerous area and none of us are surprised. There's a big fight outside that club at least every week, it's really dangerous."
Another resident said: "The club where the trouble happened is notorious for violence - in fact it was closed for ages because of all the shootings. It only re-opened last year."
A Scotland Yard spokesman said: "Police were called to Manor House tube station to reports of a large fight outside.
"A man believed to be aged in his 20s was found nearby suffering from stabbing injuries. He has been taken to an east London hospital where he is in a serious condition.
"A second man, believed to be in his 20s, was found suffering from stabbing injuries. He has been taken to a separate hospital, where he is in a serious but stable condition.
"A third man, also believed to be in his 20s, was also found nearby suffering from a minor gunshot wound. He has been taken to a separate hospital where he is in a stable condition. Officers from Trident are investigating."

There was a post on this here the next day but it got lost quite quickly. I heard something about it on the local news as well, but nothing more. Quite scary, especially if you're unlucky enough to get caught up in it. I don't know the club at all, does anyone else??
Unlucky? Alison you would have to be up at Manor House at 3:30am on a Bank holiday Monday.
@ John, it's just possible Alison might have gone to the 24-hour supermarket at 3:30 am ? And why not ?

I often go to the 24-hour shop on Wightman in the middle of the night.
Well you're right - Sainsbury's up by Home base is open 24/7 - I have been there v late at night on occasion. Many locals also go clubbing in Central London and get the N29 night bus home right through to breakfast time the next day - my daughter does sometimes - she lives on the ladder.
Well I was coming past there on the 29 yesterday evening so was looking out for it... not sure of the exact location of this club though, there are two big hotels up that end ??Is the '|Manor Club' in one of them?? That other time I have previously mentioned when a gang got on the 29, started fighting and a long knife flashed inches from my face was around 6.30 pm on a Friday evening... so you don't have to be up that late John. That happened in the same location too - top of Seven Sisters Rd, close to Manor House tube station. A lot of these gangs operate from the estates in that area .... allegedly... Now I always go near the front the 29, near to the driver.
I feel a lot safer where I live than I ever felt in New Zealand. It is to do with my age now I'm sure, young men are the targets of other young men (and the police).

My point is - you are unnecessarily scaring yourself and others by saying "I have seen this violence so it could happen to me". It is STILL unlikely.
Glad to hear you feel safer here than in NZ.
My point is an event happened right on our doorstop a couple of nights ago where two people were knifed and another shot - it was lucky there were no fatalities. Not much publicity and no one heard of it. We all need to be aware of what goes on in our yard so we can take care of our own safety, so there's no 'unnecessary' scaring involved.

I actually have always felt quite safe in this area(in spite of the knife incident) and have travelled the world to some pretty scary places on my own. What keeps me (and others) safe is awareness of potential dangers.
Tom is right, about 20 odd years ago, it used to be a goth club called the Catacombs. I spent many a night there after an evening in the club dancing to The Sisters of Mercy - it was a right dive then, but us goths loved it - dark, damp and stinking of patchouli!
You've reminded me of a cafe I used to go to(further back in time!!!don't ask) where the walls were painted black and the tables were in the shape of coffin lids and a skeleton hung on the wall... we loved it...
Oh right, so it literally was right opposite Manor House tube!
