Just after 11.30am I'm doing a bit of shopping and strolling along between the Salisbury and OAE stages just to get a feel of how things are warming up. Half-way along I'm accosted by an earnest young man from the 'Stepping Out' stall and shop, eager to interest me in his array of disability aids. 'Why pick on me,' I ask, 'or do you jump on all the over-60s?' I took some time to persuade him of the superiority of my Mountain King trekking pole which, having served me well through a dozen countries over a dozen years, seems likely to see me out. Next time he'll probably want to fit me out with incontinence pads or comfortable coffin lining.
In the early afternoon as I listen to what the programme tells me should be 'driving guitar riffs and touching harmonies' outside the OAE I'm interrupted by someone offering me their 'ministry of healing'. 'Any beer or ice cream?' says I but it falls flat. A bit peckish about 4, I make for the United stall advertising bread of life and water of life but find only words. At least the Seventh Day Adventists put on a good vegetarian selection, with neatly printed menus - but I suppose today's not their sabbath. I settle for a spicy saltpig burger further along and am still munching it when I get back to the Salisbury stage now shared by very active Greek and Turkish fiddlers etc. At least Shefiq doesn't try to sell me some of his Hair & Beauty from the nearby Mehmet salon.
Otherwise, an enjoyable day. Anyone see your man with the big balloon? Nice, too, to meet Dasos Maliotis strolling along, under no pressure.

Personally, I found the mobility aids very nice. There were made of liquorice. Had you not realised? Very tasty Hungarian liquorice.
What are we blaming the council for this time? Sorry, I get confused. Voices in the head and now meatballs.
Meatballs in the head. Now this. Is it too late to vote for ET?
