We need to replace our very decrepit wooden french doors. Can anyone recommend a supplier, local or otherwise, that they've used recently and rate highly? I've had a look at previous posts and they're a couple of years old now.
Thanks!

I take it you mean is what I'd call french windows (but the web tells me the terms are now used rather interchangeably)?
I employed Iranian joiner Hamid to replace my french windows and ended up helping him with a David v Goliath battle in his disagreement with his landlord Network Rail. He id a great job of exactly copying my original victorian french windows (even reusing some of the original glass). There's a picture of my windows here.
He has since worked for, I think, quite a few others on the Ladder. He did a job for my near neighbours recently and they were also very happy with him.

Hi Hugh
Yes, that's exactly the kind of thing I mean. I'll give Hamid a call.
Thanks!

Hi MLB
I don't know if french doors have a sort of standard size but we are doing an extension and have saved the doors as they were in pretty good condition. The builder said that they are good quality and could be sold. We are happy to give them away for free. I can send you photos if interested, and you can come and have a look. they are already taken down.
Thanks
Alex.
