Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

This morning I had a long email in my inbox which seemed rather odd. It was from a chap called Ben Way ( I gather from the mail he was on Secret Millionaire). The content claims to be an update on a whole series of social innovation ventures.

I was going to add a post about one of them - Freetricity - which appears to offer to fit free solar panels to your house. You apparently benefit from some free electricity in return for allowing the excess to be fed into the national grid. Sounded interesting. However a quick Google returns too may scam related posts.

I'm now assuming the whole mail is a scam. I don't normally repost scams, but this is a new one and almost had me. So I'm sharing the whole mail. Do let me know if I have got it wrong.

It has been a few years since I last did an update email and as many of you know it has been a very busy few years for us; however it has not all been work and after the Secret Millionaire I have continued my philanthropic activities as well as hopefully securing an appearance on a TV series in the near future so watch this space!

The big news is we have just completed our funding round for Freetricity PLC http://www.freetricity.net/  raising over £12m to put free solar panels on houses across the UK, this takes advantage of the new government FIT scheme and basically allows you to get £15,000 worth of solar panels on your roof for free and then get the electricity it generates for free; we only have a thousand installations but friends and family come first so go here http://tinyurl.com/freetricity if you want to sign up your house! We should also be completing a much bigger round of funding for commercial installations in the very near future so if you know a company who wants to go green for free and has a roof contact me.

The last few years have been challenging for everybody, and while we are very sad to have lost a few of our companies over this time, however overall we find ourselves in a good position with interests in over thirty companies spread over three continents. Since my last update we have heavily expanded into the USA with about 25% of our portfolio now in the USA and we now specialize in taking US companies into the Europe and vice-versa, as well as continuing our more traditional incubator activities taking early stage ideas to market.

We have continued our work in the green sector including involvement in Green Mile couriers http://www.greenmilecouriers.co.uk/, mobile phone recyclers SellMyMobile.com http://www.sellmymobile.com/ as well as developing renewable battery systems and inventing a number of green technologies that we hope will make it to market in the next few years.

Our internet companies are doing well, BoostCTR http://www.boostctr.com/the adwords optimization company recently received significant funding to expand their operations and TrafficSpaces http://trafficspaces.com/ the SAS plug in advertising system is generating good revenue and is about to raise capital for growth. GoDine http://www.godine.co.uk/ our ultra local version of Top Table is going from strength to strength with doubling of year on year of revenue growth and SendSocial http://sendsocial.com/ continues to make progress with the imminent integration with Big Wardrobe http://www.bigwardrobe.com/ and we hope to continue to lead on physical social sending.

BraveNewTalent http://www.bravenewtalent.com/ the graduate social recruitment tool is growing rapidly as well as Smata http://www.smarta.com/ which is continuing to help entrepreneurs everywhere. FuelMyBlog http://www.fuelmyblog.com/continues to provide an exceptional resource for public relations product reviews for SME, and Truevoo http://www.truevoo.com/beta/the app search optimization engine is one company that really frustrates me with big potential but we just can’t find the right management for! Also keep a look out for ChargePlay http://chargeplay.com/  which a very good friend of mine has developed just about to revolutionize the way paid for video works on the web. Talking of video my amazing sister goes from strength to strength with NewsPepper http://newspepper.com/as well as entering the US market with a splash, she is the girl to know in San Fran!

But it has not been all technology and environmental, we have diversified into everything from Shoes to Milk Shake http://makeashake.com/ companies and our alcoholic drinks company YQ Vending http://www.celldrinks.co.uk/  is aiming to dominate the UK and US market with their unique pouch drink ‘cell’ having already appeared in venues across the country. You will be glad to know that we continue our medical device heritage and we are working on a top secret medical compliance device that should hit the market next year. We also have been working with a leading linen manufacturer in the US to develop SoftTracking http://softracking.com/sales/default.aspxhttp://kck.st/hiXsnQ!

We always believe in collaboration over competition so if you have any ideas or can help any of our companies I would love to hear from you or if you are a HNW individual or VC and are interested in early stage or growth stage companies, we are always open to new funding partners.

Apart from that if you’re wondering why you have received this email, my system extracts all the email address I have ever been in contact with, in some cases we may have been on the same distribution list, if that is the case I am very sorry, this is a private list and does not get distributed to anybody.

Hope you enjoyed the update and look forward to hearing from you soon.

Yours Sincerely

Dear 'Wen'

I'm not sure a public forum is the best way to resolve a dispute.  I thought I knew who you were, but wanted confirmation; plus I'd rather deal with things in a private way.

Unfortunately you seem to want to bad-mouth me and Freetricity publicly.

Given your comments, I think it is worth stating that you entered into a 20 year legal contract with Freetricity.  In an attempt to resolve your issues in a reasonable way, I have agreed to cancel that contract and waive the financial penalties within that contract.  You have put a number of restrictions on the contractors we can use to carry out the remedial works, and you are also out of the country for many months at a time.  This has not helped resolve the matter quickly.  In the interests of fairness, I think it is worth publicly acknowledging these points.

I am committed to sort out all the problems to our mutual satisfaction.  We've spoken at length on the phone, and I'm sure you'd find it more productive to call me directly (you have my work and mobile number), than resort to public forums.

We have thousands of customers who are happy with the savings they are benefiting from through our free Solar Panels.  It saddens me that we weren't able to include you in that number.

Kind regards

Martin

In response to Mr Bleazard's post I will give the facts of the case to evidence my poor feedback on this company :

1. FOR THE LAST 21MONTHS I have persistently made representation to Martin Bleazard and Freetricity to make good the damage they caused to my home. After 21 months not one repair has been made. This has been done privately, but isn;t it my right to report negative feedback on a review forum?

2. The contract mentioned by Mr Bleazard was breached numerous times by Freetricity...and I believe the involvement of Trading Standards made it very clear that such a contract was null and void due to those breaches, hence I do not consider this was a kindness or favour on the part of Freetricity.

3. The contract mentioned by Mr Bleazard was null and void from the outset for the reason that the company they used (Southern Energy Solutions) lied to sell that contract to me... I have the paperwork to support that. It may be worth noting that the company they employed (Southern Energy Solutions) have been stripped of their 'buy with confidence' marker by trading standards. It is also worth noting that Freetricity are a company signed up to the regulatory body REAL whereby they enter into a code of conduct. I would draw Mr Bleazard's attention to clause 5.2 of that code of conduct (among others).

4. Yes I spend part of each winter outside the UK....and Mr Bleazard is fully aware that this is for disability reasons so his discriminatory comment is just the low ball nonsense I have come to expect from this company. The fact is that Freetricity have had ample opportunity from March 2012 until January 2013 (TEN MONTHS)  and from April 2013 until the present time (ANOTHER 7 MONTHS) - by my reckoning that means they have had 17 months to make good the damage they caused...but they just haven;t bothered to do so !

5. The only restrictions placed on Freetricity regarding contractors was my insistence that those repairing my roof and walls be suitably qualified in roofing and bricklaying.  ANYONE ON HERE THINK THAT AN UNREASONABLE EXPECTATION?

Mr Bleazard you speak of "fairness" and "your commitment to sorting out the problem to mutual satisfaction"....

......you have had 21 MONTHS to rectify the damage you caused to my home.....

How is it either "fair" or "mutually satisfactory" for you to cause damage to my home and leave my home with an unsafe roof and holes in the walls for almost 2 YEARS?

Would you find it "fair" or "satisfactory" if some company did this to YOUR home Mr Bleazard?

So yes I would love to sort this out in a mutually beneficial way....but that would actually mean YOU fulfilling your legal and moral duty and making good the damage to my property wouldn;t it?

Can you upload photos onto here?....If so I will upload the photos of the damage caused to my home by Freetricity...just so that anyone who is thinking of dealing with these people know what they are up against...

Yes you can wen. There is a tab under the dialogue box that says upload files.

Just one example for now...............

Attachments:

"...some kind of 20 year contract involved" - and that could be a problem should you wish to sell your house during those 20 years.

Just a note for anyone even considering dealing with FREETRICITY:

I have just had a conversation with MCS who are the regulatory body for the installation side of solar panels...

FREETRICITY do NOT have MCS affiliation............ this can be confirmed by contacting MCS on 0207 090 1082.

As most solar panel companies have this affiliation it begs the question as to why Freetricity do not have it.... but then again looking at the scale of damage they did when installing their debris at my house it would be obvious why they would not wanted to be regulated for their shoddy installation methods !!!!

Martin BLEAZARD

I am still waiting for you to arrange for repairs to the damage you caused to my property after well in excess of 2 years
Any reason why you are delaying the process again?????????????????

I tried calling you but as per usual you don;t answer your phone and have your office people tell me you are in a meeting..... gosh what a lot of meetings you have with your fellow directors....

It is so regrettable that the only time you actually respond is when I write on this forum....such a shame as I almost believed the apology and promise you sent me earlier in the year.....

May I kindly suggest you read your e mails as I have sent you a deadline.

Wen
