Hi All!
Just wanted to tell you about the brilliant local/national UK online based not for profit recycling/reuse voluntary recycling/reuse organisation #ilovefreegle.org - Freegle is an online forum where members can offer and/or request just about anything so long as it's free and legal even broken white and electrical goods) Freegle means 'Free Giving Locally Easily' and has been up and running since 2009. There are over 400 groups with more than 2.5 million members giving away stuff they don't want and/or getting what they do.
Members can be individuals, other nonprofits, voluntary and community groups, homeless and other resource centres, schools and many more who can register to get what they need absolutely free. Members arrange mutually convenient times to pick up items. Freeglers save over 300 tons of perfectly useful stuff from landfill every 31 days. Use the link above plug in your postcode and it will bring up the 5 closest groups to you. Members can post Community Events, add photographs and more.
We don't have many rules but here are some:
No Swapping, Lending, Borrowing or Selling.
No spam (All posts are moderated so spammers are wasting their time they never reach the group)
Freegle doesn't have a problem if you ask for things to sell on so regardless of whether members post a 'Wanted' or respond to offers they must state clearly that they intend to sell the item on. If caught selling on without saying so will mean a ban from all Freegle groups.
We do ask that members requesting items ask politely, everything on Freegle is free as is common courtesy. A Please and thank you go a long way and you're more likely to get what you're asking for. We also insist that members stay in touch when offered an item not showing up and ignoring members communications when offered an item isn't acceptable.
I'm sure you'll enjoy being part of the Freegle community, there's absolutely no money involved so why not check us out?
Regards
Liz
