Free gardening skills course for young people through Capel Manor

Free 15 week NPTC City and Guilds level 1 course in horticultural skills at the Waterworks Nature Reserve in Leyton. 

The course is funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund as part of a new social inclusion project called Wild Place, Your Space which has been running since January 2010

About the Course


Who is the course for?

The course is for unemployed 18 – 25 year olds.

Where will the course be based?

The course will be based at the WaterWorks Nature Reserve and Visitor Centre for 15 weeks

What will be learnt?
  
The course will cover the basics in horticulture ranging from preparing ground for seeding and planting, to identify trees, shrubs and weeds.  The course will also include learning about wildlife-friendly gardening techniques and students will be involved in helping to create a wildlife-friendly garden at the Waterworks Nature Reserve.

When does it start?

The course begins 14th May 2010 and runs until the 23rd July 2010. (However we're told her at HoL that places are still available).
