CoNEL is offering a load of FREE short courses from January. All sorts, health care, DIY, IT etc mostly a few hours to six mornings, going on till the summer. Looks good, I've just booked on a video course that would cost me £200 at City Lit.
I don't know why they are doing this, as so much of this stuff, courses just for fun or interest, got axed in the 90s. They must have got some special funding. This is very different from the usual basic skills and ESOL on offer at HALS. Only restriction is that you have to be UK resident for the free pass.

Tube to Seven Sisters or 259, 279, 41, 243 bus etc. Or the Overground to SoTo once that comes back in the New Year.
Brilliant - thanks Pam. I've signed up for podcasting in May.
Very easy to sign up and you can cancel last minute (which makes me wonder if the courses will all run). Still - it's a really good deal.
That's why I'm doing this free publicity for them. I want all the courses to fill up. I remember too well from when I was running evening classes, watching the lists to see what would work, and which of my colleagues would get paid as a result. The trouble with FREE instead of a token fee, is that drop-out may be high.
