Hi Tina. I don't the detail or age of the kittens, but if it helps, here's some advice - sorry if you know all this anyway!
Ideally, the mother cat and kittens will need looking after inside if you can bring them in and foster them or look after them until a fosterer can be found. It's not safe for them to be outside in the garden. Usually there are more than 2 kittens in a litter so make sure all the kittens are with her. The mother cat will need a lot of food and water. Ideally if you put a box and blanket next to them, the mother and kittens will get into it and you can bring them all inside together - it's important that the kittens stay with the mother.
The mother and kittens will need to stay together inside until the kittens are at least 2 months old and weaned. The kittens will need socialising so that they get used to being handled.
Once the kittens are weaned, Emma is right, the mother cat will need to be neutered as it's important that she doesn't get pregnant again. The mother cat can then be scanned for a microchip (if no chip, a photo can be taken to publicise her to see if anyone recognises her as a lost cat). Then the kittens will need good homes and neutering from 4 months old.
In the meantime, Stokey Cats and Dogs are on facebook and twitter - they are a local volunteer group which can help you with good advice and fostering advice. There are tips on their website as well in the Found Cats section on finding a cat and kittens www.stokeycatsanddogs.co.uk
Basically in the short term they need you or someone experienced with kittens to foster/ look after the mother cat and kittens.
As Emma says, animal rescue places can help and advise.
We need everyone out there to get their male and female pets neutered and microchipped as rescue places can't cope with all the homeless animals and many end up being put down unfortunately.
Hi Tina. Good news - I know of someone experienced in animal rescue, who does a lot of charity work locally, who can take the mother cat and kittens and foster them. They can also catch them as they have a trap if needed. So they can sort it all out for you.
I shall send you a connection request.
