Former leader of Haringey Lib Dems announces switch to Labour

Cllr Sarah Elliot, leader of Haringey’s Liberal Democrat group from 2014 to 2015, is joining the majority Labour group in Haringey.
This means there will now be just eight Liberal Democrat councillors against a working majority of 49 Labour councillors making key decisions for the borough.

Did they have the numbers to form a government with Labour, Gordon Brown didn't seem to have quite the appetite for a coalition, and some career politicians did do damage to their own parties. I hate to say it but usually a conservative government is elected in a recession period, at least that is what I have sedan in Australia, why is that?

Or Professor Tim Bales' version?
Or the wise and objective crystal ball interpretation from Berlin?
All three may be right or partly right. I don't know. Tim Bale is interesting in his view that at the time of the formation of the Coalition Government, the LibDems nationally were even more right-wing than people thought. And that they had completely swallowed the deficit/austerity theory nonsense.
However, I do know something about just a few of our own ex-LibDem councillors and from what I saw, they did a conscientious job. Even if I couldn't get them to publicly question their own national Party's stance on austerity.
But then again, I'm a slow reader and thinker and it took me a while to get the hang of it.

No. I make up my own mind. The Berlin version. I just keep my eyes and ears open.
Generally, if you're outside the aquarium you see far more than those swimming around in the muddy waters inside. And what do I see politically in the U.K. at the moment. Something along the lines of 'Up the creek without a paddle' (Tories) or 'Make it up as you go along' (Labour) Sound right to you.. ?

Politics aside, OAE is by some margin the person whose posts I most look forward to reading on HOL. I find it somewhat frightening that he could be read by anyone as 'adding nonsense to everything'. It's called intellect and wit.

Clive Carter and Three Labour Cabinet Members opposed the desire to sell off of St Ann's Hospital.
If Corbyn campaigns to save St Ann's as an NHS employment site, this would be a sea change.
Google the march of protestors to save the Whittington, it's a sea of the great and the good, in N15 silence.
To my knowledge Siân Berry is the only heavyweight to visit, there has been a categoric sell of of 2/3rds of Mental Health with very little resistance from our council, a value of human decency that is absent, and all age care in Haringey is gone to private care.
I had hoped Andy Burnham would call during the last general Election with Ed Milliband, they skirted the area, it's already a strong hold.
Hospitals will grow , land is cheaper in the East than Hampstead and Holloway, expansion can be met at far less a cost, all hospitals linked by the Barking to Richmond Line. While the line is closed for four months, St Ann's Station could be reinstated to increase it's investment potential and connectivity for the wider area.
