Footpath closed

Tried to do my favourite canal/reservoir circular walk yesterday, but the New River path is now closed between Green Lanes and Seven Sisters until July because of building works (Berkely Homes).

They've re-opened access along the West reservoir from Lordship Park to the Castle, although it has now been "landscaped" into pressed gravel paths and preternaturally green lawns as part of the housing development. I preferred the old, muddy, little used track myself. Berkely Homes also have redevelopment plans for the area by the East reservoir, although they apparently can't touch the reservoir itself as it is a nature reserve. Hopefully it will retain some of it's hidden rural charm, which can't be said of what they've done the other side.
