Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

The Finsbury Park Theatre and cultural venue, planned for a site in Clifton Terrace, has been granted planning permission after Islington council received many letters and emails in support of the application and no objections.

The Park Theatre will be a 200 seat main house with a smaller studio theatre and is due to open in 2012.

More at the theatre's own blog.

Arthur, you're most welcome. The internet is excellent for history sites, especially those run by enthusiasts.
I remember seeing Jim Dale at the Finsbury Park Empire and the shock a few years later on visiting London to see where the Empire had stood there was a block of flats. Some places you think are never going to change, but of course they do.
Doesn't the Finsbury Park Empire 'star' in the Beatles 1964 film 'A Hard Day's Night'? With outside and inside shots..
Didn't the Osmonds play at the Rainbow in the 70's? I seem to remember some footage of screaming girls banging on the door of the rainbow to get in. Wasn't me, I was never a fan of fake white teeth.
...the Beatles 1964 film 'A Hard Day's Night'?

or was it Cliff Richard's 1962 film 'Summer Holiday'?
I saw the Beatles with Dusty Springfield as the support act in about 1965 at the Astoria
I'm an actor and technician and a huge fan of community arts projects and this will be brilliant. Pretty much walking distance as well! Great news!
Dempsey in the second round, but Firpo (the first Latin American to challenge at this level) had knocked Dempsey out of the ring in the first round and the count to get him back in had been "slow".

Just a one-reeler I should think - about ten minutes of showing time.
