Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Saw a Council Post on their Facebook Page , friday

They are closing Finsbury Park to Traffic, due to numbers have group meets etc

Expect it will put most pressure on Alexandra Park .

As doubt if they will close that to Traffic, as would cause major Traffic issues

I assume that only applies to vehicular traffic? If people are that determined then they will just park on the residential roads.

On another parking note........Are the CPZs still operational?

The car entrance to Finsbury park is closed to cars - but open to pedestrians, cyclists etc.

In addition, the entrance by the new river on Endymion road is also closed (because it is narrow?).

They've also sprayed illustrative 2 metre distancing marks on the ground next to the entrances, and playgrounds & exercise machines are all closed.

The Oxford Road gate (leading to the bridge over the railway line to the Parkland Walk) was also closed this morning.

Also the terrace immediately around the Alexandra Palace building was closed, but all other paths in that park seemed to be open.

On a side note, definitely a lot more people out walking / running than usual for early on a Saturday morning. Lots of sidestepping and weaving to try and stay 2m from everyone else.

I was walking back from the park today and stepped into the road to let a man go by on the pavement. I commented to him that it was hard to stay 6ft apart when there was only 5ft of pavement - he replied "Oh is it 6 feet now? I thought it was 2 or 3." Where has he been the past  fortnight? So I said yes it is 6 feet apart, and told him to think of it as the length of a dead body. I doubt he'll forget that one!

As Ally Pally's road is private it could be closed, but that would disrupt the W3.

It's now difficult to close the Park to pedestrians as fencing would have to be erected on the south-east side.
