Find that stolen camera.

I've just found out about this website which aims to reunite stolen cameras with their owners. It works by recognising the EXIF data embedded in uploaded picture files. See report in the Guardian.

Sadly it failed to find my stolen SLR so far, and is rather pricey to do more than one search on - £5 a month for an auto email if found - but I hope I can keep going back and checking again.

The other snag is that a lot of sites like Facebook strip out the EXIF data, I don't know why. (This is why I stomp a watermark on uploaded pics.) I have mine set to include my web address so honest picture users can contact me, but that often gets lost in transit.
