To all that knew PC Glyn Kelly, it is with sadness I share this news.
Glyn sadly passed away yesterday morning in his home in Newcastle after losing the battle with cancer.
Glyn retired from the force in February 2018 after 31 years as a beat officer and dedicated ward officer on Harringay ward. He was well known in the community and loved by many.
I worked with Glyn for the past 14 years on the Harringay ward (the ladder).
Patrolling side by side, we were together for 8-10 hours a day. A bit like a part time couple. Through thick and thin he was there for me and I was there for him. He was a loyal, caring, loving and a very special person. To everyone that knew him, you know what I’m talking about. He had a sense of humour and knew some funny jokes and always called me kid (that was my nickname) and that's what I will miss most. We kept in touch when he retired until the last day.
I will miss you Glyn but I have the treasured memories of us together walking the beat. Every corner I turn, you can be sure there is a memory.
I know you will be looking down from above and saying keep it up kid.
Rest in peace Glyn Kelly.
