Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Recipients of Housing Benefit who get less than the full rent may be able to apply for a Discretionary Housing Payment which the council administers out of a fund created by the government.
A copy of a pamphlet with application form is available at
http://www.haringey.gov.uk/discretionary_housing_payments_-_extra_h...

Alternatively, recipients can apply by letter to the Council's benefits service at the addresses set out in the leaflet.

Applicants should set out their income and outgoings in detail, as well as details of their household, in order to make the degree of hardship clear and they should also give details of any steps which they are taking with regard to training or employment.

The scheme is meant only to provide temporary extra help and is reviewed at 6-monthly intervals. It is also discretionary, as it's name implies. However, it can be a valuable means of relieving against hardship in some cases.

Needless to say, anyone who wants my help with their application is welcome to contact me via a message on this site or at David.Schmitz@haringey.gov.uk or on 07854 002742.
