That's fantastic - thanks for putting this amazing and rather moving one and a half minutes online. The ritualistic quality in the shared percussion and song - a traditional pulse created by both the women and the men who are facing each other in lines, and the main percussionist at their apex - is mesmeric.

It would be great to find out whether they were out in the park because it is was a nice day or for some other reason related to the nature of their song, how long they performed, whether there were other pieces - and whether they perform elsewhere.

Were you able to talk to them and find out any more?

I wonder what the song is. It sounds very mournful

(Not sure if it's me but  video seems to get stuck a few seconds in when I try and watch it on Safari. It's fine on Chrome and all other YT vids are fine on Safari. So not sure what the glitch is)

I love the way the babies are joining in! Thanks for sharing this. There have been so many negative comments about Finsbury Park recently (by no means unreasonable concerns) that I was starting to think I should take a different route to work. But seeing this has changed my mind. FP is a great space for everyone to use and enjoy.

I'm told it's a ritual of the Eritrean Orthodox church.
