My energy bill is going back up to £334 per month from April. My supplier, Good Energy is charging me about twice per KW than the government cap.
Can anyone explain this?

I don't know if this useful but I'm with Octopus and I cancelled my DD at the start of Winter.
They contacted me and said I could set my DD at whatever rate I wanted (and thus get the DD discount.) And then top up any difference with manual payments.
This has worked out well for me, the only minor issue being that every 4 months or so they raise the DD again to what they think it should be and I need to call them to reset it to what I want it to be.
I've managed to stay in credit all winter with payments of £160 per month on a whole house.
Like I say, Good Energy may not allow such a thing but it's worth exploring.
