e-cards with a sting

A word of caution.

This morning I received two e-cards. Luckily the first one was from a company I'd never heard of so, given my recent computer woes and the fact that it's neither my birthday nor yet time for Christmas cards, I decided it was a bit suspicious. The second, apparently via Hallmark, wouldn't have given me the same pause for thought. But, because of the first card, I checked the hyperlink before clicking and saw that it was taking me to a .exe file at an address which had nothing to do with Hallmark.

Now it could be that I'm just be over-cautious so I've dropped Hallmark a quick note to check - well if people have been kind enough to send me a card it'd be churlish not to thank them.

But in the meantime a word of caution to you all. Check where those e-card hyperlinks are taking you before clicking for your apparent greeting.
