We often eat at Il Piccolo Diavolo at the bottom of Crouch Hill (11), just down from Crouch Hill Station. Delicious authentic Italian food, children always welcome, friendly staff. Small so probably best to book on a Saturday. www.il-piccolo-diavolo.com/ 020 7272 3302. Kit
In Crouch End the 2 places worth eating out at are Bar Esteban and the newly opened Heirloom next door. I've been to Bar Esteban multiple times - not quite as superb as it used to be (but that might just have been a blip) but still reliably good, I think. Heirloom tried for the first time Sunday lunch and pretty impressed: excellent food - sort of modern gastro but gutsy and good ingredients cooked with care; annoying music and noisy acoustic; staff mostly fine except for one gent rather up his own arse. The stack of high chairs suggests to me that they would be kid friendly. They have a garden with tables at the back.

you mention kids so one of the more recently opened Turkish restaurants in Green Lanes may be the answer because it is buffet so they can have as little or as much as they want (I know the problem because my 5year old granddaughter eats heartily but my 9year od grandson eats almost nothing I think it is called Open Kitchen, it is inexpensive but very good food afiyet olsen
