Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

On my way back from Islington this afternoon, I noticed a little yellow estate agent's sign for "Woodberry Park". Aha, that's the Woodberry Down development, I thought.

Googling it when I got home, I came up with some estate agent gold. How about the chutzpah of this "Woodberry Park Flythrough" video.

And if that's not your thing, you can at least have a mooch around the Woodberry Park website and learn more about 'one of the UK's largest estate redevelopment projects' on your doorstep. A brand new home can be your for between £230 and £280k.

Good grief.

and what's ' an integrated learning campus' ?

TWENTY SEVEN STORIES. Splutter.

and I've 'surfed' their 'website' thingy but can't seem to find where the Section 106 provision for an equal amount of social housing, and schools and health centres will be found. Or maybe that's what an Integrated Learning Campus is.

Thar she blows in all her glory

What I'd like to know is - when (hopefully not if) they're going to re-open the stretch of footpath round the reservoir behind the site which has been closed since the building work began. It used to be one of my favourite local circular walks - along the New River from Green Lanes, across Seven Sister's Road, and then round alongside the two reservoirs up to the Castle. Beautiful views of bird life and natural tranquility, and there's even a great new cafe in the sailing centre, with a terrace overlooking the water.

But now you can't get onto the path past the first reservoir - it's just boarded up with no notices or anything, and you have to divert to Stoke Newington or back up to Manor House. I don't know if it's actually a right of way, or just a permitted access path on land belonging to someone.

It's open again, walked through there last weekend - the flats and landscaping butts up to the footpath. There were notices giving details regarding the closure when I was down previously, on the kissing gate entrance next to the old pumping station there is a notice which specifically says it's not a right of way although I don't the legality of that.
Great!

Wow - now I've seen the video I want one of those flats with a balcony and view! Though I think you might be a bit cheesed off if you thought you were getting Canary Wharf and found yourself at Manor House instead...

Now I believe an estate agent can fly.

I used to go sailing at the West Reservoir and the wind shear from nearby buildings could be a problem depending on conditions, wonder how this development is affecting things?

Apparently this is an ad for Property Noire soon to be released as a first-person computer game. You'll be able to play at home or online. Players begin as a simple buyer. But as they gain points they advance through the game as a landlord, regeneration consultant, and property developer.

Skilled players are able to raise the height of buildings (so the Eiffel Tower is visible from the sustainable roof garden). And even knock the whole place down to build a world class, taking-it-to-the-next-level, football stadium.

I haven't been up to Ally Pally for a while, but walked home from Muswell Hill this afternoon and noticed what an impact this development is now having on our skyline:
