Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

A labour activist doorstepped me asking if I had any concerns about the local area that I would like to discuss. Our little street is in such a state its hard to know where to start.

If someone from the local party is reading this, I am sorry for being a bit rude and shouldn't have referred to Milliband as a "wanker". I have strong views, best left at home, out of earshot.

But back to the subject in hand. Why are labour party activists sent out to ask these questions? What does it have to do with them? Surely we have people in the council responsible for the local area and they are politically answerable to the council leadership?

Wouldn't it be awesome if the council sent people out on the streets to ask local residents if they can do anything for them: noisy neighbours, rubbish, parking, planning issues, HMOs etc. All the things we have a council in place to deal with.

It frustrates me no end that the council and our lib dem representatives are unable to deal with rubbish dumping, HMOs, blatant planning breaches and slum landlords. At least they do make an attempt whereas labour are invisible.

Why is the labour party sending students around to take the flak? If they want to canvass, fine, but be honest about it and ask for your vote instead of pretending to care about local issues.

It seems you slightly under-reported your conversation with the "Labour Activist". On Twitter you write that you "told him local council were corrupt and useless: evidence overwhelming they are bent too". Three conversation stoppers there, I'd guess.

In equal measure I detest Labour canvassing dressed up as pretend research; and fake LibDem surveys. But there really is a serious purpose to asking residents about local problems. Or actually several serious purposes. However, since you assume that as a councillor I'm at minimum "useless" and possibly "corrupt" and "bent", you may not be interested in reading what I have to say.

Yes if they put half as much effort into doing positive stuff around here as they do into getting elected...

I'm intrigued as to how you know about Mr Milliband's private habits though.
