Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Walking past the old Queen's Head today, I noticed that a rebrand was taking place.

I popped in to nose around and met a young guy who told me that his London-Turkish family had bought the whole UK business.

So same stuff, different face?

I seem to remember Hom as a brand of men’s underwear.

Another instance of forgettable mediocrity on the high street. Undoubtedly this will face the fate of Dogtas. I do hope the residential plans get approved for this building. It looks sensible and will hopefully give rise to something more appropriate on the ground floor.

Why do people dislike Dogtas ?

It's a furniture shop. So?

I've no issue with dogtas It's just......

they were part of what ever killed the Queens.

i just can't forgive them.

Agreed. It's final incarnation as the 'sports zone' was horrid. But pre that it was a great rock'n' roll venue, sticky carpet n all, and ,if you look at how the Salisbury and Brownwood have been turned around over the years ...... It could have been a contender, with the only proper garden on this stretch of green lanes.

oh well.

What killed the Queens was the people who didn't drink in here.

Yes, your right. It's the same old story, use it or lose it.

ALL OF THESE NEW SHINY 'HOME FURNITURE' SHOPS ON GREEN LANES ARE JUST FRONTS!!!

I'm not one for conspiracy theories but it's difficult not to get suspicious about that.

Same here. The basic maths of rent + business rates + refurbishment costs - putative revenues / years of operation for many local establishments make 0 economic sense.

How strange. People used to complain about the proliferation of kebab parlours, now it's furniture shops ?
