Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

...The former indoor market near Poundland at the bottom of Wood Green High Road.

I walked past sometime before Christmas and it was empty and had a To Let sign. I've been away a week and it's suddenly a large hole, with some of the facade still standing - it looks as if it's been bombed. Was there a fire?

No fire, but workmen have been dismantling it since Boxing Day. Here's a photo I took as they started taking it apart.

No idea what it's going to be though...

Actually here are a couple of planning applications: 1st approved, 2nd refused (but appealed against)

1) Extensions and alterations to property including new mansard roof, and change of use from retail / commercial to retail at ground and first floor levels, and 4 self-contained flats at second and third floor levels, comprising 4 x 2 bed flats

2) Extensions and alterations to property including addition of third floor, and change of use from retail/commercial to multiple user retail, single user commercial office, 2 x one bed flats and 4 x two bed flats

Interesting (and great picture - I wonder what it was before?). It looks as if they're still trying to rent it out on Rightmove. The other listing for the floor above speaks presciently of empty first-floor office space - someone would get a shock.

Still, with luck it's too big to be another betting shop.
