Harringay online

Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

I had been meaning to try this pizzeria that opened last week - it is at the MH end of green lanes, near those questionable tenements. I took away a couple of pizzas after work last night and I have to say that it compares very favourably to some of the best pizza in the area (which in my humble opinion is Sacro Cuore.)

The owners have clearly invested a lot as there is a traditional wood fired oven built in the restaurant, and they have refurbished the place from the ground up. There is a good choice of craft beers on tap (don't remember exactly which ones..)

They have sourdough, gluten free dough, and intriguingly some 'charcoal-fermented' sourdough base which I wanted to try but forgot to ask for...

The menu is short and sweet and covers all the classics, but in order to be able to benchmark against the competition I took 2 of my 'go-to' choices: - salsiccia friarielli - fennel sausage and marinated turnip greens and one with nduja - spreadable calabrian sausagemeat.

Though I had to reheat them because I had to walk home, I have to say that both were absolutely superb, clearly made with good quality ingredients and the sourdough tang was quite prominent. Delicious. All in all very positive - definitely my 1st choice and a massive win for the area which desperately needs good, no-nonsense pizza.

Minor mark down is that at present it's a cash only establishment - I believe that's to change soon, as they tend to refer you to the cash point nearby which charges £1.85 per withdrawal, effectively amounting to a premium on the bill.

Fab they do gluten free! Thanks for the recommendation! Will have to try

I agree. Their pizzas are delicious and it's a nice place to sit in now. The 'cash only' bit is because they are waiting for Virgin to connect them to the web - they've been waiting a month or so for the engineer to come back.

Dear neighbours,

Thank you very much for your lovely words and support. I am very local and have been living in Haringey since 1994, studied at local schools (Woodberry down primary school and Park view Academy) I thought its the right time for me to start my own business in Manor house and seeing great and amazing local neighbours visiting Dobar and supporting us is beyond words to explain how happy we are :)))

We source our produce locally and ensure we get the best produce for our customers we have suppliers from Hackney, Stoke newington, Enfield and Tottenham and happy and proud to say we support local businesses.

Unfortunately We have had bad experience with Virgin media and has resulted in us having a delay in internet, phone line and our pdq card terminal. Over 6 weeks of wait we have finally got our internet installed! #happydays :))

So this week we should be fully working :)

We have Instagram and Facebook: DobarLondon

We also have our website live now: www.dobar.co.uk

Our core focus is Sourdough Pizza in the evenings and Breakfast/Brunch in the mornings which again we  use local produce serving breakfast in cast iron pans along with home made sourdough breads which is made daily fresh.

I won't go into to much detail and hope to see you all soon. come in and say hi ;)

Thankyou neighbours!

Regards

i tried to google your restaurant and I couldn’t see a website, so it doesn’t come up when people search for restaurants coming out of Manor House, so couldn’t recommend you anywhere apart from trip advisor

just saying

I went with a group of friends for lunch - a few fussy eaters and everyone enjoyed it. Breakfasts were served up on a cast iron pan which was a nice touch. And just £5 each at the moment!

I went for pizza in the first week during the soft opening. I went on my own with three children and the staff couldn’t have been more helpful and friendly. And the pizza was absolutely delicious - by far the best I’ve tried in the area.

We sat facing the window and entertained the kids by counting the buses as they went by!

Can’t wait to go again.

I’m looking for a sourdough pizza-making class as a Christmas present (for myself ☺️)- any chance you might branch out and do an evening of pizza-dough throwing?

Now listen.

I've just been with my partner and had a wonderful experience. The food is excellent and the service most welcoming. The beer selection is ridiculous for a small restaurant too.

Highly, massively, recommended. It's excellent.

Oh, forgot to mention - we toyed with the charcoal sourdough but decided against - instead they put a couple of slices of it in with the olive appetiser we had. I can see the value - it was smoky and full of flavour.

And we paid less than fifty quid including tip. Great stuff.

Good tip. I do hope it stays on the menu, but was half wondering how long before they streamline things... Quite keen to try it. Might bring my visiting mother in law as an excuse to sample it

Went  last wkend and yes delicious pizza

I liked it too when we went during the soft launch.  The salad was generous and very tasty.  The pizzas were perfectly cooked.  Good base and excellent toppings,  I'll definitely go again.

Been a few times now for brunch and dinner and it's been fantastic!! Great new addition to the neigbourhood. Wishing you all the best of success, Onic!
