Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Do you know of any Wildlife Rescuers or Vets in Harringay/Haringey area?

Does any one know of any Wildlife Rescues in the North London area? Or any vets who are sympathetic to injured or sick wildlife?

I recently rescued an injured or sick wood pigeon and had no success in finding someone who would treat it. All the vets were closed and eventually I managed to get in touch with the RSPCA who collected it the next day. However I have been informed that they don't have the resources to actually treat pigeons or other wildlife and they are usually euthanised. I don't know how true this is.

I would like to be put in touch with wildlife rescuers in the area who could treat an animal or bird in the event that I come across any other wildlife in need of help. Hope someone can help.

Thank you.

Wildlife and rescuse ambulance service Enfield

They are in Trent Park and open to the public.

However I am not sure if they would take urban pigeons... they don't show any on their website.

Thank you Elle,

I had already called and emailed them on Saturday evening and Sunday morning but couldn't get a reply. I'm still waiting to hear back from them. I really needed medical treatment for the wood pigeon within 24 hours as I thought it may have been bitten by a cat and apparantly birds require antibiotics very quickly if they have been bitten.

I didn't want to stress the pigeon out unnecessarily by taking it to Enfield if they couldn't help.

I see on their Facebook page they deal with Wood pigeons. Maybe I was unlucky because it was a weekend.

Thanks anyway for your suggestion.

I've used Enfield Wildlife Rescue in the past and they're very good, in Trent Park. 07970 141282. They are open every day and never turn away injured wildlife including birds. I guess you were unlucky not to be able to get through on the phone. I have also seen someone come in to a vet with an injured pigeon.

Thanks Justine. I would have taken it to a vet if it had been any other day of the week. All closed on Saturday night and Sunday and didn't want to chance leaving it until Monday. Good to know that Enfield are open every day so if this ever happens again then I can take it there.
