Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

This week is Rabbit Awareness Week. Free health checks are being offered by some local vets, including Village Vet http://www.villagevet.co.uk/rabbit-awareness-week-11th-15th-may-2015/ and details of all relevant vets are on here www.rabbitawarenessweek.co.uk

There is also lots of information on the above website on how to look after a rabbit. They should not just be kept in a small hutch as they need plenty of space to run around.

The Rabbit Welfare Association say the following:

70,000 rabbits end up in rescue centres every year because "the children lost interest". Please don't get a rabbit unless you're prepared to look after them for 10 years in a spacious environment.

A rabbit likes the company of another rabbit, a male and female pair is best, but make sure you get them neutered first. Get your rabbit from a rescue place, there are loads needing homes, don't buy one.

Rabbits are affectionate and fun at ground level, but most bunnies don't like being picked up and held. So they are not usually a cuddly pet. If a young child picks up a rabbit, they are likely to be scratched and the rabbit can be injured if dropped. It's better to sit on the floor and stroke the rabbit at ground level.
