Park Road Pool is reported to be the busiest pool in Europe, so who wouldn't take it on as commercial interest, problem is that means taking away the learn to swim slot from Haringey Borough Swimming Club, where they have provided a framework for children to learn swimming and progress on to our local swimming club, even some of our Mattison Rd Swimming Instructors have learnt to swim through connections with the club.
I think Haringey Borough Swimming Club is a a good news story for the borough, linking Tottenham Green Pool with Park Road Pools, providing a nurturing and professional standard of coaching for our kids, if our kids have half a chance to shine than this is it, so support it, and take it up with your ward councillor, they'll have some influence to secure the future for our club. David Lammy Is the Honorary Chair of the club so something ought to be achieved here.
Why do I care?, because these guys are there week in week out and they have out shone their own projections for the borough, and they do it because they love the sport, ad the results the kids achieve. I'd love to say that Mattison Rd swimmers were progressing to club level, and that there is continuity for the sport, and their long term health.
I haven't even began to talk about wages of pool staff dropping from £23,000 to £15,000, existing staff are under pressure as this is a massive impact to stay in the jobs they love, and Harngey have been good employers. Temporary staff will go in favor of new contracts through new management restructure. Staff will know outcome officially by Dec 1st, the decision may have already been made.
All I know is that GLL are involved with Clissold Rd Pool, it would be interesting to see what anyone else has to add about these two outfits, put the feelers out.

What evidence do you have that wages for existing staff will drop from 23k to 15k? Can you please explain how that can happen legally given that it's illegal under the TUPE regulations for a new employer to drop an employee's pay on the transfer of the business? And how can you assert that as a fact when the provider hasn't even been chosen yet? Do you have access to each party's commercial proposal?
You say "temporary staff will go in favour of new contracts through new management restructure" - what does that even mean? Are you trying to say that existing staff will be fired in favour of new temporary staff on less favourable contracts? If so, again, why would any employer do that given they'll immediately be hit with a claim under TUPE for redundancy payments by the fired staff?
Do you have any evidence for this stuff? Or are you just speculating wildly?
For the record I hope DLL get it and, based on the way they run Clissold Pool, I'd be delighted. And contrary to your opening para, they couldn't run it as a "commercial interest" because they're a not-for-profit organisation.
Fusion have the contract, from 1 December. They were meant to come to last night's users' group meeting at Park Road, but no one turned up. Not a good start.
Fusion are coming to a meeting at Park Road Leisure Centre on the 25th, at 6pm
thanks Jackie, thats really helpful
Apologies, its been pointed out that it is actualy GLL not DLL, so at least you can't be sued for your comments about DLL.

Greenwich Leisure Limited is a non profit distributing co-operative that runs over sixty leisure and fitness centres in eleven London boroughs, Reading and Epsom and Ewell, started in the Royal Borough of Greenwich. The trust also runs and manages Crystal Palace National Sports Centre. On 9 January 2012 it was announced that GLL would be managing the Aquatics Centre and Multi-Use Arena of the London 2012 Olympic Games from 2013 for 10 years.
Greenwich Leisure is a staff-led 'Leisure Trust', structured as an Industrial and Provident Society for the benefit of the community. The members of the co-operative and therefore owners of the company are the workers of Greenwich Leisure. Alongside democratically elected members of staff, the trust's board includes representation of other stakeholders, including the local communities, borough councils and trade unions.
In January 2011 Nexus Community and GLL merged in a deal that will see the new group operate more than 100 leisure centres across South East England.
GLL and Nexus have worked in partnership since 1996, most recently in the South Oxfordshire area where GLL has subcontracted the management of seven South Oxfordshire District Council leisure facilities to Nexus
