Harringay online

Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

I have recently lost one week's emails from my Yahoo account. All other email is present ie sent mail etc. While Googling this I discovered that others have had this problem even to the point of losing all their email going back years. Yahoo have a link for this to reset, but have gone over the time when this should have happened. It is impossible to contact anyone at Yahoo. Anyone got any ideas?(and yes I have checked Spam and Trash, and I know I could use another server) It is worrying that this can happen and happen again, as, like many people, I rely on emails as info storage. I am now contacting various organisations to resend emails and will print out the key ones.....

This sounds very frustrating. With so much of our lives dependent on technical well-being, we all fear falling foul of technical foul-ups.

I’m afraid I know nothing of your particular issue. But going forward, particularly if you use your email system as a filing system, you might think about setting your Yahoo mail to download to a mail app. I do that with a gmail account I have to use. I have all my email accounts come into my mail app and only visit the servers online to check through junk.

You will then have control of your emails and they will also be protected by your back-up protocols. (If you don’t have any backups set up, you should do so. You can see why you might need them!).

If you’re not used to using Outlook, Apple Mail or the like, there will be a little pain setting it up, but in my opinion, you’ll be much better off in the long run.

Thanks Hugh that sounds like a good idea. Do you have any links that might help? When I Google it I get a forest of peripheral stuff.....

Do you know which email app you will use? Do you have Outlook? Are you a Maccie?

a popular, safe and free option is https://www.thunderbird.net/en-GB/

Looks like a good option.

I've used Thunderbird for, I dunno, at least 15 years, probably longer?  Ever since Outlook got too fancy for its own pants, for a simple minded one like myself at least.
