Councillor Rowena Davis is right. The committee of MPs has let down the public. Their report (my post here) could almost have been written by the Gambling "industry".
It is as though they have not read the submissions of those opposed to betting shop proliferation and especially the concerns about the socially damaging effects of Fixed Odds Betting Terminals. A triumph for their "industry" lobbyists.

The only consolation, possibly temporary, is that these are recommendations and not law. But the concern is that the last government, and now this government, see the "industry" as a source of tax revenue. And not of large and growing social costs that in due course, will be picked up ... by the agencies of government.
And what did David Lammy's office say when you called him, Pam?
Alan have you had a chance to read the MP's report, or even the press accounts?
