Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Being curious about the period of the milk bottle we found in our loft when we moved in, (together with an Apple Mac I haven't been able to throw away.) I discovered it may be from the 70's, and worth a princely sum of £4!, the milk bottle that is.

I also discovered the use of 'Denters' mentioned here:

We had cartons in Oz which came with their own problems, not dissimilar to the British experience.

I still like our milk delivered to the doorstop, but haven't had the connection residents had with 'Nobby' the milkman. When he passed away his family did a knock round for his headstone, to have a milk bottle inscribed. Anyone else remember him?

yes i remember Nobby and his wife, they delivered milk to us for years, lovely people and the family were often helping on Saturday. and just for interest i also had a milkman called Ernie!! back in the 60's in Finchley!!

Hard to believe Bennie Hill's 'Earnie,' reached No. 1 over Christmas of 1971. The fictional character was inspired by Hill's early experience as a milkman himself.
