Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Delphi Foods, a local company, has been fined a whopping £50K for employing 12 people without the right to work in the UK.  Usually, the penalty is £10K per person illegally employed.  So they got off lightly.

One way of looking at this is, it is stealing from the Community & Local Economy to earn a quick buck.   Regrettably, the powers that be appear not to have notified the press about the incident so this is report is exclusive to Haringey OnLine.

Should responsible members of this Community continue to buy its products and discourage the sale of them?

Interesting. One the one hand I am opposed to immigration controls, and don't like employers having to act as immigration control. On the other hand, I also don't like to see people employed without legal rights, and maybe not paying NI or tax.

Quite. If there were 12 employed at say £12,000 pal that would cost about £40,000 pa in tax. it would also deprive the local economy of £120,000 in wages to legitimate local workers.
