Hi all
Just spoke to my neighbor in Duckett Road, who informed me she found a dead fox in her garden last week. She thinks it died of poisoning. This is quite worrying to hear as quite a lot of us have cats roaming around our back gardens. Just thought I'd let other people know.

That's what I asked her too...She said she phisically had to remove it from her patio she had a good look at it and it showed no marks on the body etc and it looked like a healthy fox. She said it looked like she dropped dead on the spot. It apparently used to sleep outside in her patio regularly and had recently had cubs.
It could have died of something else, but since it is not the first time I hear people suggesting poison for getting rid of foxes (on this site too!), I think it's quite possible that's what has happened. Let's see if there's any more cases.

It's terrible if someone has been so reckless and irresponsible by putting poison down. It's not the way to deal with foxes and is dangerous to other animals and pets as well. If their purpose is to get rid of foxes, poison is not the answer. If a fox dies, another fox just moves into the vacant territory so the fox population will not diminish.

Yep, I agree with you. But obviously people who want to kill foxes are probably not very concerned about other animals either...either you like animals or you don't. We have accepted foxes are part of living in London and having a back garden...I am not saying I like them to be there, but I do feel sorry for them and we try to cohabit peacefully. As you say, if you get rid of one, another one is going to come along.
Anyway, let's just hope we are wrong and it died of something else.

How terrible. We recently had a stray cat die of poisoning too. She was in agony in our garden and we took her to the vet who confirmed it was poisoning, but nothing left to do. Some horrible people around.

Which part of the ladder were the other cases? Suppose the fox and cat didn't necessarily drop dead right away :(. It is worrying to hear if that is the reason which is not really confirmed from what you say about the fox.

The fox had probably eaten one too many poisoned rats. It's not a good idea to speculate that someone is deliberately poisoning foxes.
