Last sunday we got home late from the cinema, my partner took our dog out to the garden and she was stood around there for a while with him. Meanwhile we hadn't noticed helicopters going around above, as they often do.
Next thing we know, it's about 1am and 5 police cars & a bunch of heavy-looking police are gathered outside our house and knocking on our door very aggressively. The 3 big policemen at our door asked to investigate our garden ASAP with their verrrry big german shephard police dog as a violent psychopathic and physically huge man (also described by them as 'very big black man') had broken loose from a mental institution and had been stomping his way through the borough, through back gardens, smashing windows and breaking into peoples' houses. He has been 'active' in Enfield and many different parts of Haringey. We are in Seven Sisters kind of area.
They had been watching my partner on their thermal imaging from the helicopter and thought that she was this man in our garden!! Luckily, their gallant gentle giant police dog did not detect his presence in our garden and they all went on their way but said to leave lights on and lock everything up from now on. (We always do anyhow).
As far as i know, he's still on the loose, so be EXTRA vigilant. This man is dangerous and not breaking into houses necessarily for stealing, but for some other reason. If you see a big built black man acting suspiciously or breaking in, DO NOT APPROACH but call police.
SEE ARTICLE HERE REGARDING HIS FIRST 'ABSCONDING' FROM UNIT BACK IN NOVEMBER, HE HAS BEEN ALREADY CHARGED WITH GREVIOUS BODILY HARM WITH INTENT:

I sympathise, byl999. This is a residents forum and we're supposed to be here to help and look out for each other. There will be other forums where people will be able to discuss the semantics of mental health as practised by the Metropolitan Police and others.
Stay inside, watch Sky TV. Thank you for your advice. (James Walsh, that was for you!).
Hi byl999 unfortunately there are some people on here who love to pounce on individuals and try and undermine their posts when all you were trying to do is be helpful. I also don't see anything offensive about what you've written. You were just trying to alert people that a potentially dangerous man is out there. Don't be put off!
I disagree.
So often these things are posted under the guise of being neighbourly and just sharing of information.
What you have here is an attention grabbing fear mongering headline about something that didn't even happen in Harringay. All a bit like the Daily Mail really.
I understand that this must have been an awful and quite scary experience. But how does making other people feel scared about something help? How does it help to keep us 'safe' exactly?
I do think people need to think about their initial post titles - as that is what goes out on the Facebook and Twitterfeeds. Police seeking potentially dangerous man in Seven Sisters Area - with more information in the main body of the message would possibly have been more appropriate - no?
Reading this thread is exactly why i choose not to post on haringey online any more. Everyone is far too quick to criticise and bad mouth everyone. It really annoys me that everything is de constructed to try to find politically incorrect terminology. Grrrrrr
I just wanted to thank you byl999, as a fellow seven sisters resident i am grateful for the warning.
That is all.
Shoho as you have pointed out there are people on here who always want to shut you up by trying to find 'politically correct terminology'. I don't think you should let them put you off from posting. You are entitled to your views the same as they are to their opinions. It's a forum for everyone -- not just for those who like to criticise at every opportunity
Thank you antoinette v carter and KP- i agree that its a shame but its just annoying and time consuming to have to justify yourself when all you were doing was sharing something that you thought others may find useful.
Never mind. I'll contemplate posting again if I've got something interesting to say.
